Beetlejuice is a visually inventive and imaginative comedy taken to a uniquely grotesque and funny level by the manic performance of Michael Keaton in the title role. In this surreal, wonderfully cartoon-like comedy, a childless couple, Barbara and Adam (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin), move to the country only to be killed in a car accident while passing over a quaint covered bridge. Their ghosts return to their beloved Victorian home, and find the Handbook For the Recently Deceased, which not only lets them know they're dead, but comes in handy when they learn that they can continue to live in their house, even though a new family--from the land of the living--is moving in. The new owners, fresh from the city, are quite a strange group themselves, and are not scared off easily by the couple. As a last resort, they call upon the services of the demented, terrifying, but hilarious "bioexorcist," Beetlejuice.
This adorable Halloween quilt is as much fun as the movie. Using Maywood Studios’ Spellbound fabrics featuring the adorable green goblins and entertaining pictorals, it will make great accent quilt for the upcoming Halloween excitement. Each kit includes the pattern and fabrics needed to make the quilt top. The finished quilt measures 40" x 49".

Unbeknownst to him, it is the next 30 years, spent as an instructor, that will define his life. His passionate teaching motivates and even changes a number of his students. However, Holland suffers a tragedy in his personal life: his young son Cole is deaf, and thus unable to fully appreciate the joys of music. As a result, Holland concentrates more on his students than on his own child. But when Holland finally realizes the extent of his neglect, thanks to his wife and Cole himself, the teacher must learn to accept his son's handicap, and give him the love and guidance he deserves.

Director John G. Avildsen’s 8 Seconds is the true story of the meteoric rise and all-too-brief career of Lane Frost, the youngest national champion bull rider in history. Luke Perry stars as Lane, a shy but popular young bareback rodeo rider whose gutsy determination catapults him to stardom. After a passionate courtship he falls in love with Kellie (Cynthia Geary), and the two young rodeo riders get married. Perry gives a fine performance in this gutsy and inspirational tale of a real-life rodeo hero, set to a swinging country-western soundtrack featuring Vince Gill and Brooks & Dunn, among others.

The quilt, made using Maywood Studios’ Bull fabric line, uses a quick, easy pattern that is as fun as the fabrics. Featuring fussy-cut rodeo scenes for the center blocks, the fabrics really bring this quilt to life, and give it lots of character. The finished quilt measures approx. 70" x 82".

NOVEMBER 2007: Sense and Sensibility
Actress Emma Thompson both wrote and stars in this adaptation of Jane Austen's SENSE AND SENSIBILITY--a novel that perceptively examines the social manners and laws of early-19th-century Britain. Set in the English countryside, the film follows the loves and heartaches of sisters Elinor (Thompson) and Marianne Dashwood (Kate Winslet). The two have extremely divergent approaches to life: Elinor represents "sense" and believes in behaving with propriety and thoughtfulness, while Marianne represents "sensibility" and basks in her own emotions. Both women, however, experience confusion when their lovers, seemingly on the verge of proposing marriage, spurn them.
For director Ang Lee, the film marks a break from his Father Knows Best trilogy, which examined the problems of the contemporary Taiwanese family. Many people questioned whether an Asian director could handle an English period film. Lee answered those questions with a gorgeous film that both captures the nuances of Austen's novel and proves that Lee is a first-rate director capable of tackling any material. Featuring Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman, among others, the stellar cast inspired Lee to flatteringly exclaim, "Can everyone in England act?"
Our project for Sense and Sensibility portrayes the rich color and design of the period using the beautiful fabric from Moda "Dominique". This is a simple but elegant quilt measures 65x77" and is one that you will enjoy putting together while watching the movie. Be sure and order your backing - we have a limited supply!

Jackie (Susan Sarandon) and
Luke (Ed Harris) are divorcing after years of marriage and
two children, Anna and Ben. Their new stepmother, Isabel
(Julia Roberts), wants to be involved in the children's
life, but is unwilling to sacrifice anything for her work.
Jackie considers this to be selfish and rude, sparking a
conflict between the two women. When cancer enters the
picture, everyone is forced to grow in order to settle their
differences.
This is one of those films we all agree as women that we
love. We love the emotion and we love the quilts that
are shown throughout especially the scene where Susan
Sarandon has made a memory quilt using photo transfers for
her children.
Since"StepMom" is being
featured in September our project was designed to celebrate
Breast Cancer Awareness month.
All of us have been
touched by this devastating disease in some way or another.
This may be a quilt for you to make for yourself to
celebrate being a survivor or perhaps it will be a quilt you
will make to give to a friend. Either way you will
love working with these fabrics designed by Karen Neuberger
for Quilting Treasures. The quilt measures 60x72" so
if you want a queen quilt just order a 2nd kit!
Each kit will include a pair of fuzzy pink Breast Cancer
socks!
