The Teachers:
Carol
Doak
As a best-selling author, celebrated teacher and lecturer and award-winning quiltmaker, Carol Doak has greatly influenced the art and craft of quiltmaking
for more than a decade, in the U.S. and internationally. Her accomplishments include a sizable collection of popular books,
with over one million books in print. It is no secret that Carol has raised the popularity of paper-piecing, her trademark technique, to heights never before seen in the world of quiltmaking. She also has an impressive range of beautiful blue-ribbon quilts featured in several books, such as Great American Quilts 1990 and The Quilt Encyclopedia, as well as the covers of numerous magazines.
Carol's lighthearted approach and ability to teach have earned her high marks and positive comments from workshop participants worldwide and at national shows such as the Houston International Quilt Festival and the American Quilter's Society Show. If you have ever taken a class from Carol, you know that her enthusiasm for quiltmaking is infectious. Carol has a gift of sharing her inspiring ideas with her students in such a positive and unique way.
Carol's history within quiltmaking is nothing short of remarkable, and the future of quiltmaking will benefit from her generous knowledge, enthusiasm, and most of all from her love of quilts. Learn more about Carol by visiting her website at www.caroldoak.com.
Dana
Goyer
Dana can't remember NOT quilting! Her quilting legacy extends for seven generations (and she has the physical quilts from each generation!). She loves to share her quilting knowledge and tips with all of her students.
When she is not teaching quilting classes, Dana is machine quilting on her longarm machine. She has had her longarm business for nine years and has won many awards and ribbons for her machine quilting. Besides longarm quilting and teaching quilting classes, she also enjoys being a hostess at the Stitchin' Heaven Quilter's Hideout Retreat that is
held two times each year. Dana enjoys herself and makes sure her classes are great fun!
Marsha
Bergren
Marsha lives in the northern-most city in Wisconsin –
Superior, which is at the very tip of Lake Superior. She has
a wonderful husband and has 4 grandsons who live in
Kansas with their mom and dad. When not working (which isn't
often) she likes to play golf, bowl, camp, x-c ski,
snowshoe, and spend time with her friends. She also loves
spending time with her 91 year old mother who is her biggest
fan – she can't believe Marsha can even sew!
Marsha worked for 37 years in education as a teacher and
school counselor. During the last couple years she started
playing around with the idea of pursuing her love of
fabrics. Being a quilt shop owner for the last 9 years she
has tried to come up with various patterns
and items to keep her customers coming back. That was how
the “Twisters” came about. She did them for her customers
and then they traveled with her “Twisters” and she started
to get calls from other shops and to make a long story
short....after several prototypes and the help of 2
businesses in her area, along with good friends offering
help and cheering her on, she came up with a marketable Lil'
Twister and a Twister. That was followed by 2 books - “Let's
Twist” and “Let's Twist...Again.” The 3rd book that she
finished recently is “Let's Twist...One More Time!” The rest
is history. |

Las
Tortugas
Dana will
entertain and educate you while she teaches this very cool
project called "Las Tortugas". This quilt is actually made
from "The Turtle" block and we all know how amazing the
turtles are in the Caribbean. Fabrics are all batik and you
will most likely finish this one before you get off the ship
as all the fabrics are pre-cut. This beautiful quilt will be
a nice memory of your time spent making new friends on our
cruise! Size: 65" x 78"
 "Let's
Twist"
We have selected the quilt that started the Twister
revolution, featured on the cover of Marsha's first book
"Let's Twist".
If you have never used this amazing and fun tool, you will
have a great time learning how to use it right the first
time as its creator will show you step-by-step what to do
and the different options you have with it. Marsha will have
lots of models to show you in class to get you inspired to
make many of these great quilts in the near future. Our
fabrics will be similar to the one shown on the cover of the
book and cut down to the size piece you need just prior to
cutting. Your Sail ‘n Sew pack includes the fabric, both the
Twister and the Lil’ Twister needed for this project, and
the book "Let's Twist". You’ll have great fun in this class
with Marsha! Quilt size is approximately 60" x 70".
Optional Sail 'n Sew Fabric Pack:
This kit will have all the fabrics you will need for each of the three projects. Our incredible Sail 'n Sew fabric packs include all of the fabrics for your projects and they are pre-cut so all you need to do is sit down and sew!

The Cruise:
We will begin our journey out of
Ft Lauderdale, Florida on May 3, 2014 for a
seven-night, roundtrip cruise through the Caribbean.
When it comes to beautiful beaches and sparkling blue
waters, the Caribbean is truly in a league of its own!
We will make our
first stop: Nassau, Bahamas. For a city now known
for its warming sun and balmy breezes, Nassau has a
tumultuous past. First settled by the English, the area
was contested by England, France and Spain. For many
years, Nassau was a home base for notorious pirates, and
it was burned to the ground by the Spanish three
different times. Since 1740, however, visitors from all
over the world in search of both relaxation and
adventure have made Nassau their favorite destination.
Our
next stop: Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
St. Thomas is known as an idyllic vacation spot today,
but its history is not so peaceful. In the 18th century,
the island was at the center of a bustling pirate
culture, as swashbuckling pirates such as Blackbeard and
Drake traded stolen wares in the port of Charlotte
Amalie. This world-renowned Caribbean island is home to
amazing beaches, g orgeous
sea and landscapes and unbelievable duty-free shopping.
Finally,
our last stop: Philipsburg, St. Maarten. When
the Spanish closed their colonial fort on St. Maarten in
1648, a few Dutch and French soldiers hid on the island and
decided to share it. Soon after, the Netherlands and France
signed a formal agreement to split St. Maarten in half, as
it is today. Philipsburg displays its Dutch heritage in its
architecture and landscaping. The island offers endless
stretches of beach, beautiful landscapes and great shopping. |

With 25 onboard dining venues to cater to any craving, going hungry is not an option. To make your mouth water, here are just a few!

embrace healthful living through healthy eating.
Dive right in to a hearty, seafaring meal on

General Information
Cabins:
With so much to do onboard, chances are really good that you will just use your cabin for changing and sleeping, but it's nice to know that if you want to spend more time there, you will indeed be comfortable. All standard staterooms are attractively decorated in soft tones with fine lighting and artwork on the walls. Each stateroom has a private bath, telephone, interactive flat-screen TV, mini-bar, hair dryers and air conditioning/heat controls. Bathrooms are on the small side, but functional, and showers have those wonderful, half-round sliding doors as opposed to clingy curtains. Soap and shampoo are also provided.
Dress
During the day, dress is casual. Evenings are either casual, smart casual or formal. On casual nights, suggested attire is sports shirts and slacks for men and sundresses or pants for women. On smart casual evenings, men should don jackets and tie, with women wearing dresses or pantsuits. On the one or two formal nights per cruise, men can choose from tuxedos or suits and ties, while woman usually wear cocktail dresses.
Gratuities
Gratuities are not included in your reservation costs. We
recommend $3.75 per person, per day to the dining room waiter;

you're in a suite); and $2.15 per person, per day to the assistant
